Ahmed Issa joined FABMISR in February 2026 as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. He is a distinguished Egyptian banker and public policy leader with more than three decades of experience across banking, corporate leadership, and government service.


Prior to his current role, Ahmed Issa served as Deputy Group CEO and Board Member at Banque Misr, where he led strategic transformation initiatives and oversaw enterprise-wide governance and growth. He also held the position of Non-Executive Chairman of CI Capital Holding, guiding the group’s long-term strategy across investment banking, asset management, and leasing platforms. In addition, he contributed to academia and public institutions as a member of the Board of Trustees at Galala University and previously as a Board Member of EgyptAir Holding (2018–2022).


From 2022 to 2024, Ahmed Issa was appointed Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt. During his tenure, he led comprehensive sector reforms, attracted significant private investment, strengthened governance of national heritage institutions, including the Grand Egyptian Museum, and helped deliver record-breaking tourism performance.


Ahmed Issa began his career in 1993 at Commercial International Bank (CIB), where he advanced through leadership roles in Corporate and Investment Banking, ultimately serving as Group CFO and later CEO of Retail Banking. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for driving transformation, revitalizing retail banking franchises, shaping Egypt’s national tourism strategy, and restructuring key heritage institutions to achieve financial sustainability and operational excellence.


He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Ain Shams University and an MBA in Corporate Finance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a merit scholar and co-chaired the Finance Club.
